Autumn Pin-ups

by Kristina Woodhill

I'm thumb tacking
Autumn leaves to the sky

Stars are delighted to share
Their vast outer space

As October and I
Take leave of our senses

Passing small drones might spy
Our air space quite dense

I'm thumb tacking
Autumn leaves to the sky

And quite frankly I don't care

If
Wings flapping due south
Winds wending easterly
Squirrels leaping
Branch
To branch
To fence

Collide with
Dogwood brash reds
Lanceolate ash yellows
Tiny spots of honey locust suns
In between

Sweet gum deep orange
A pumpkin would envy
While smoke bush adds purplish-red
To this scene

Our back-yard-bound asters
In lavender and whites,
Dahlias in bold purple
Some
Yellow with red stripes

Underscore our fresh
Pin-ups
I've thumb tacked
With gusto

Gravity can wait
Gravity can wait

Beautiful...to the backdrop of my favorite time of year.
