Philosophy Check-In

by Chris Sorrenti

On Being A Poet

I didn’t create the World
But I am writing it all down
The way I see it
A poet’s privilege
And if you don’t agree with me
Then write it down the way you see it too

The poet’s responsibility
To remind others of their own humanity
Inspire them to find that gift unique to themselves
Share it with whomever they are most comfortable
If not the entire World

What Is Love?

Love is simply positive energy
As different as those who share it
Shaped by Destiny
And combination of their own unique energies
Two or more
But acting as one

Gay/Straight...Whatever Your Pride May Be

My philosophy is that we are born with a sexual personality as part of our overall personality
And as long as one doesn't break the law or hurt others in the process
Then he/she should pursue life sexually in whatever fashion they are most comfortable

On The English Language

I see the English language as a living organism
As parts of it die out, new ones are born
So that over time, it becomes increasingly difficult to identify
Especially for those from the past
If they could be transported to the present
Even more so to the future
And likewise the opposite way

I imagine other languages work the same
And as with Nature, through human circumstance...natural selection
Only the strongest survive, evolve
Arguably not always for the better

Time

All my life, I’ve been fascinated with Dinosaurs,
and so I’ve often wanted to travel back
to prehistoric times to watch them in real life,
and see how right...or wrong the paleontologists got it.

After some thought, and various experiences, to me,
the past, present, and future exist simultaneously.
As mortals,
we don’t have the ability to physically travel between the three,
except in our minds.

Perhaps, as immortals, we will be able to do so.

Meanwhile,
because the past, present, and future exist simultaneously,
we are actors in a play, a movie already filmed, called Destiny.
And though we can’t change the script, in our own little way,
can make subtle changes, the proverbial fork in the road.

Whichever direction we decide to go,
although it too has been preordained,
we are in essence creating an alternate reality.

nicely written and well explained analysis of your perception of reality, sure enough, there are thousands of ways of reaching reality...each to their own cheers
