Mother Nature's Child by Chris Sorrenti
Got the news today
That I’d be leaving
So many memories drowning me
Too many things left undone
Einstein said
Energy can neither be created or destroyed
Only passed from one form to another
Time to find out if it’s really true
Don’t need a church to tell me that I’m saved
I know what’s on the other side
Done some bad
Done some good
Won’t be the first time I’ve been on trial
Thinking to myself
Must be half crazy to believe what I’m believing
But all around I see the power
In everyone and everything
Whenever felt the uncertainty
Calling upon the magic spell
Read these words with an open mind
Let them move
Let them mark you...
No mother nature
In killing me
You won’t have stopped but only changed me

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 07/21/15 at 04:42 PM I love the "if" in your author's note, Chris. I like how you look the inevitable squarely in the face. "Thinking to myself
Must be half crazy to believe what I’m believing
But all around I see the power
In everyone and everything" - great stanza. Thanks! |
