I Be Mighty

by JJ Johnson

Mighty is my tiny frame
Held firmly in the hands of time
At times displayed the legacy of long forgotten pals
Been friend to artists and architects alike
Made love with poets and songsmiths at night
and wooed maidens with burning amorous strokes
I weep in many colors on the tips of wet tongues
And have swum hollowed wells both deep and dry
I am caressed by all who have words in their heart
Though loathed by those with iron clad fists
While Kings and Queens engraved heir names in majestic decrees
I have signed treaties of peace then declared bombastic wars
That freed multitudes the world over in declarations of right
Prevailed in fencing duels over Knights who knew not how to write
For no sword of man can defeat in one hand, a bleeding pen when write is might

"I weep in many colors on the tips of wet tongues" - my favorite line.

Nicely put together JJ. Worthy update to that old euphemism, "the pen is mightier than the sword.' Killer closing line.
