The First Time by Chris Sorrenti
The first time I saw you
A warm mid spring day
Like today
Forty-three years ago
I was riding my bike
Down the main street of our neighborhood
You walking towards me
The late afternoon sun
Shining down on both of us
As the distance between diminished
You came clearer into view
A tall young woman of fair complexion
And you were smiling
Not so much at me
But as if in a state of contentment
Perhaps the perm
How pretty it made you look
Like an angel
Your glowing face framed between
Ringlets of long brown hair
And as I passed thought
Hmmm
Someone I should meet
Get to know better

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 05/09/15 at 03:56 PM Your phrases allow me to imagine future meetings, possibilities, combinations - a nice writing technique. "The late afternoon sun
Shining down on both of us" - neat way of bringing you together in this scene. Best of all, this piece leaves me curious. Thanks, Chris. |
