Embracing Memories by Wendy Sparling
I shall embrace your soul
With my wrinkled hands
Sing you melodious lullabies
Quench this sorrow-filled heart
With droplets of morning dew
I shall place your gentle spirit
On white feathered dove wings
Let Heaven's breath guide your
Journey into the azure horizon.
There where the sea meets sky
I shall follow the starlit path
To your destiny - sprinkle
Memoirs to ever blossom
Cherished memories of you.
In fields of God's pure light

Author's Note: 17 years ago today my son, Kelly, passed away. I try to be brave, but the time leading up to this day cause me stress and loss only a mother can imagine. My grandsons have inherited his great sense of humor and looks and with this said, I am very grateful. Time does heal, but in so tiny steps that it seems like yesterday we heard the terrible news. I wrote this poem many years ago, and it still reflects the hurt in my heart.

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 03/13/15 at 02:34 AM Beautiful, heart wrenching, Wendy. Once again my deepest condolences. Your Author's Note makes a great companion piece to clarify even further your situation/inspiration. |

Posted by George Hoerner on 03/13/15 at 08:13 PM Although I have 3 children who by now are adults I have a hard time thinking of loosing any of them before I die. It must be such a very difficult thing to have happen. |
Posted by Graeme Fielden on 03/14/15 at 11:28 AM time is so inconsequential & meaningless where love exists. yours clearly continues throughout (as it should)... i felt your unending love and sorrow through these wonderful words. it's inspired me to give my little cherubs an extra hug tonight & tell them that i love them. I send one your way from my little family. *hugs* |
