Tick Tock by Jeffrey ParrenThe clock's silent heart
beats as the night crawls on
and I find myself
staring into a blank darkness.
Even the moon is napping,
nowhere to be found.
Why is it the calmest of times
when my mind chooses to race?
Frustrated over people
whom will never change.
Anguish over
not writing enough poetry;
yes, the irony.
I learned long ago
time waits for no one.
It certainly isn't
waiting for me.
Tick tock
tick tock
life's but a blur.
Tick tock
tick tock
life's worth I cannot ignore.
One day I hope
to halt the clock's heart
if but for a beat. 02/01/2015 Posted on 02/01/2015 Copyright © 2024 Jeffrey Parren

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 11/01/15 at 02:11 AM I love poems that deal with time, and this one is no exception. Well done Jeffrey, evocative, totally relateable. Congrats also on POTD. |
