David's Lament by Kristina Woodhill
Oh, David, you would gag,
I assure you,
viewing from the side
of the runway
oddly clad young men
strutting
Rick Owen's 2015
Penis Collection,
little tips of
flaccid dicks
peeking from under
hems of ghastliness
stylistic vacuousness
pantless ensembles
blank faced drones,
not even
a nervous
bobbing
giggle
at this artless
attempt
at art
Remind us again,
dear Michelangelo,
of the sublime male form,
marble smooth lines
birthed
from the depths
of the earth,
carved
from the mind
of genius,
lovingly shaped,
skin over
muscle over
bone
encasing soul
I could run fingers
top to bottom
endlessly,
seamlessly,
softly caressing,
intimately
approaching
the perfect mind

| Posted by Linda Fuller on 01/25/15 at 08:16 PM David would gag, indeed. I googled Rick Owens and was gobsmacked by the images of these models you so aptly described. Ri-$#%@-u-lous. The internet is a bottomless source of inspiration, is it not? Good write, thank you. |
| Posted by George Hoerner on 01/26/15 at 03:59 AM I suspect that it will be long time before we see these guys walking down 5th Ave dressed like that. As for walking down the 'runway' I doubt you see a lot of that either. In any case good write lady. |
| Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 01/26/15 at 09:24 PM Great poem, Kristina. I'm not up (no pun intended hahaha) on my fashion designers, so Googled Rick Owen. OMG...have we reached the limit yet? And some of the costumes for men and women, how many people would wear them in public??? These designers obviously live in an alternate reality compare to us 'everday' people. Great eye opener of a poem. :) |
| Posted by Laura Doom on 01/27/15 at 05:16 PM Yes, but imagine the market for accessories...
Sculpture? Unquestionably a favourite interactive medium for the tactile experience, whether in concrete or abstract form. Blind touch will arouse an intimate synaesthetic adventure, much like your immaculate evocation. |
| Posted by Ken Harnisch on 01/29/15 at 06:36 PM I too googled Mr. Owens, was bemused by his idea of "art" and "fashion" and agree with Chris that these folks live in an alternate universe where the opinions of discerning individuals and Pathetic poets mean very little to the so-called creative sense that runs in some people's minds. Left me limp, if you'll pardon the pun, but I loved the poem, Kristina! That last stanza is sublime! |
