Pitter Patter

by Chris Sorrenti

little feet prance
where once was only silence
mommy and daddy smiling
at all the new sprung noise
remembering how years ago
they too made pitter patter
in the hallways
of their parents' love

Ozonol and Band-Aids
come in handy
when outside play
brings scrapes and tears
then it's Oreos
ice cold chocolate milk
for the new recruits of Life
the rich scent of family
hanging in every room
echoed with a little pitter patter

granny and grandpa watch quietly
contently smiling
at having advanced their roles
while coming closer to the end
of their Earth bound journey
soon again to make pitter patter
in the hallways
of their parents' love

Great first line, Chris. This really ties the generations together nicely with that pitter- patter theme. Thanks!
