Juxtaposed

by Alison McKenzie

The minutes flood me,
Delivering data at a rate
Previously unknown
To the likes of time;
Breathless on the ebb,
Staggered on the flow.

This
Belies the way we calculate
Us,
Moments and history,
Our experience unsupported
By any linear measure
We might assign.

Love, a galaxy condensed
In a locket -
Juxtaposed to its post
Nearest my heart,
Hands reserved
For you,
And you alone.

Sweet and evocative, Ali. I like poems that use words like data, galaxy, and apply them to the human condition. Really puts things in perspective.

"Our experience unsupported By any linear measure We might assign." For some reason those words hit me straight in what passes for my poetic soul...That they came from you, Alison, is no surprise

"Love, a galaxy condensed In a locket -" what a brilliant phrase, Ali. I also really like the breathless ebb and the staggered flow.
