Before Thanksgiving by Leonard M HawkesThis cold and gloom of November--
Nearly leafless,
Light snow,
Restless air,
And yet, it could well be December--
October,
In perhaps the right year.
But no, there's a Tone in November,
A searching,
A quiet inner view--
Honest death
With an inner accounting,
And Light that transpects
To the New. 11/25/2014 Author's Note: My birthday too often falls on Thanksgiving.

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 12/13/14 at 10:17 PM Wonderful! I love November...seasonal poems. I recently posted one also, in my This, That... collection. November definitely has an energy all its own, and you've aptly captured it in your choice of vocabulary...imagery. |
