Time Machine

by Kristina Woodhill

I wish I had been there
For Noah's grand embarking
I would have been the gal
Who weighed his anchor at door's shut

I could have counted two by two
Checked the List, and firmly shooed
The repeat pairs back down the ramp
Who didn't make the cut

I wish I could have been there
When the line began to form
Heard mystic trumpet sounding
Its haunting sea shell roar

Were Sousa there, I'm sure he'd share
Give his notes the proper flair
Play his Right Left marching piece
A grand paw-prancing score

I wish I had been there
When the rains began to fall
To view this brand new zany zoo
As firm ground turned to tides

I would have asked really nicely
To tuck away the micely
From slitty eyes of napping cats
Curled by the Captain's side

But most of all I'd be on board
To watch the dinosaurs cavort
And see the crowd all scatter
Each day at feeding time

Fun read/take on a classic bible story. I've been fascinated by dinosaurs since I was kid, and when I die, it's my hope that I/we can time travel as immortals and go back and see all these things.
