Dark and Light by George Hoernerthe sky in the east
displays the tiniest
sliver of light
and with one
deep breath
the sun sucks
the night into
its lungs
i slide from
my bed and
stand confused
i was never meant
to live this long
some how i have
passed through
those days and nights
holding my breath
speeding it seems
at the speed of
no sound no one
except those
i’ve hurt
the sky in the west
displays the tiniest
sliver of darkness
and with one
large exhale
the sun sucks
the light into
its lungs
i find myself
laying trembling
in my bed
fearful i will see
another day
coughed into
existence

| Posted by Paul Lastovica on 09/17/14 at 02:01 AM visually, I've always admired your use of centered text. Verbally, I love this: "some how i have
passed through
those days and nights
holding my breath
speeding it seems
at the speed of
no sound no one
except those
i’ve hurt" |
