Assorted Candies by Chris Sorrenti
In words
I stand naked before the world
no shame
no embarrassment
my destiny fulfilling itself
firmly planted in emotional surroundings
empirical osmosis
geometric explosion
reaching outward on pages and pages
a special candy
plucked from this world
so beautiful
so dangerous
and if you’re the kind who’s curious
come taste my candies
some bitter
some sweet

Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 05/02/14 at 12:32 PM a lovely ode, Chris and if I may add, words are emissaries for poets and they would stand naked and unashamed before the world which would take them all in, unexpurgated to the nines. whereas poets, the dispatchers of such emissaries might have their reservations about standing so naked, nevertheless we commend words for being fearless, and the dispatchers of such, albeit their reservations, and who will be so reserved or begrudging, as to not bless the poem, which is both bitter and sweet and all other sensical considerations in between? |
