Doggerel by Steve MichaelsMy dog misses you more
than me,
saddened by the Allstate commercial
on TV.
Says his life is in a freefall
paces by the phone
awaiting your call
muttering in a vexed tone.
He stays up too late
barking at the moon
chasing night-blind bunnies
singing an old Hank tune
My dog misses you
more than I do
and this rhymes
so it's true.

Posted by Jim Benz on 03/28/14 at 08:16 PM Great title, Steve. After I read L12, the song "Half as Much" popped into my head. So I listened to it and just KNEW it had to be the song your dog was singing. If this is doggeral, I wish all doggeral could be so entertaining. |
Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 03/30/14 at 07:47 PM Rhymes true for me too, Steve. I laugh every time I come back to this one. Catchy sort of blues a dog would love too. ;) |
Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 04/29/14 at 01:47 PM this doggerel bears reading and re-reading. ( goes immediately into my favorite bin ) I guess this poem explains why, I, a man, who like every other man is purported to be a dog, am having an incredible time forgetting my she dog. I so miss her bark, but most of all her scratching and her biting and her dander, for sure. The worse part is, in her absence, I have no one to share my dog biscuits with. |
