Enter Every System by Chris Sorrenti
I leave the key in its hole
Turn it one more time
Hear that engine start to hum
As it gains momentum
- It’s simple
You try and try and try again until you are successful
All the knowledge to be gained
So many languages to be learned
Used to your advantage
I hear a voice inside my head
It tells me to move onward
Experiences colliding - melting together -
Fading into nether - yet still the wisdom remains
And it says:
Enter every system - leave no stone unturned
Enter every system – leave no soul alone
And in the end you may just find the biggest one of them all
So many things we have to learn
Before we hit the big time
So many of us waiting for that lucky break
Some of us never to find it
Open your eyes and scan the countryside
For a way out of the maze
That shortcut camouflaged behind a thicket
With a million dollars hidden underneath
There was a girl I used to know
I tried to know her better
But her lights turned from green to red
So that I could not enter
And so I waited from day to day
To meet her on the rebound
But weeks turn to months and months to years
You have to keep your patience
You try and try and try again until you are successful
And then one day it finally happened
I blew a hole a mile wide
A flood into her system
I used her friendship as a launch pad
A gateway into the world
Enter every system - leave no stone unturned
Enter every system – leave no soul alone
Enter every system - leave no stone unturned
Enter every system – leave no soul alone
And in the end you may just find the biggest one of them all
In the end you may just find the biggest one of them all

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 03/08/14 at 05:42 PM The engine metaphor is really effective here. High points for the determination written into these words and as Quentin says, it all depends on your goals how to this all turns out. The stanza about the girl and using her as a launching pad is very thought provoking. |
