On Message

by Laura Doom

I believe in right and wrong;
what is right is right
and what is wrong is wrong.

That which is right cannot be wrong
and that which is wrong cannot be right.

I believe in what is right
and what is right is what I believe.
Am I right or am I right?

It is right
not to be in the wrong
to not be in the wrong
to be not in the wrong
to be in the right.

Two wrongs do not make a right
and two rights will end in a fight.
Right is might, no maybes about it.

I believe in tolerance;
it lights my smile,
sings my pleasantries
and warms my heart,
where it keeps acceptance at bay;
for without that last line of defence
there would be no right and wrong
and then where would we beheaded?

I have a place in paradise booked.

Cute, gently self-mocking. I get it! ;)

You are definitely right, and this poem is so right, both in its construction and message. I normally don't like lines crossed out, but in this case it's quite effective in adding to the point.

so right it should be right justified

And that last line says it all. Stanza before that describes so many of us.
