Scene X

by Laura Doom

I say one thing

but mean another;
but mean any; but?
but mean every; but?

I'm telling you
I hear you.
What do you hear?
That would be telling

What have you done with my context?

If I could hear myself spoken
my abstract noun would be broken.

They are laughing/frowning/shitting themselves/babbling/feigning ignorance/apprehension.....

A nest of tapirs

frequency?
I dream of losing my parts.
It would be messy.
It will be glorious.

A matter of life and/or death

My passing will be celebrated
calibrated
collated
slated
.

the smell of sickly urine

I can barely contain myself.
I feel I have to say that I am, for all my intents and purposes, absolutely complete in all possible ways imaginable.

A mop and bucket

Disorder is ephemeral but an understanding to our obstacle.

"Do with me what you will."

It's bizarre but brilliant as always. A departure from the burnished elegance that characterizes much of your work, it deals with the grotesque truths of existence in a fitting manner. It's haunting. I could say more, of course, but that should be left to the classroom where your work and its richness should be studied.

Thought provoking piece of writing Laura. Love the construction and various images/messages. Always expect the unexpected with Ms. Doom's poetry!

Seems that you've caught me in this tangled skein. I think that I'll sit and re-read this a few times. Very beautifully written.

I do find you in the complete category, although my subtext may be out of order. You provoke thought, rattle our assumptions quite nicely. Thanks for this.

reads like an A.I. dream sequence. I'm entrenched in its trance.
