Send Rain. Send Love.

by Elizabeth Jill

Send Rain. Send Love.
Send Sun and Grace.

Forgiveness. Musclework.
Let kindness know your face.

Fold all of the above
into an envelope hereof.

Send everything you have,
send grievances if such is it.

Send hope,
because without it
there would be no prayer.

Send hopelessness,
because without it
there would be no prayer.

Author's Note: I've been working intensely with Sherra (service dog) this past year. Have missed you. Hope to reintegrate with all of you and your artistic souls this new year.

Namaste

Excellent first step at reintegration Jill. Nice to read you again.

Mixed messages. But rain, love, and hope surely timely always. Need not pray for hopelessness I think. Circumstances may bring that unbidden! Interesting contrasts.

Mixed messages indeed Q; I guess it depends if we are talking cause or effect here.
Good to see you found your way home--living on the ej...

The juxtaposition of contrasts--i.e. the request for hope as well as hopelessness--strike a fine balance in a poem that itself deftly explores the concept of equilibrium as a necessary component of human experience. (As $#%@inson said, "To comprehend a nectar/Requires sorest need.") Moreover, the pleasant rhythm and use of mellifluous notes drive the work to its sweet, thoughtful conclusion. In short, a quite triumphant return.

I find this piece deeploy moving in its simplicity. Will keep on the lookout for more of your stuff

i like the paradox of hope and hopelessness paired as cause (as if essential) to validate prayer the note of Sherra speaks of this hope perhaps you've been away, but for me i find you here from this read on...

Where to send, Jill?

Returned to sender a quiet thank-you for this piece. Such an all inclusive envelope that we might share and find kindness each day.

The end left my mind filling in the discourse, the sound of this piece, in particular, when spoken, is what makes me quiver
