I Walked Home from a Bar and Sang this Song by Elizabeth ShawI listen to your voices
in the tremblin of the stars
and the wind were talkin through you
and the leaves were yours
and all around the moon
there was a shinin little town
through the river
we were co....mmin down.
I said meet me by the river -
you said co.... mmin down
I said we're a goin fishin -
you said all a...round;
the moon is smilin pretty
so you layed your blanket down
through the dim
blue
morn.
The rivers mighty changeable -
a woman in her dress
one minute up against you
and the next one o're your head;
ya gotta be amenable
ya gotta hold your breath
in the river ...
or you ...
will drown.
I said meet me by the river -
you said co.... mmin down
I said we're a goin fishin -
you said all a...round;
the moon is smilin pretty
so you layed your blanket down
through the dim
blue
morn.
I listen to your voices
in the tremblin of the stars
and the wind were talkin through you
and the leaves were yours
and all around the moon
there was a shinin little town;
through the river
we were co....mmin down.

Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 01/17/14 at 02:50 PM this is simply beautiful and magical and soulful and musically enthralling and swimming in metaphors of the sort which are life sustaining. I listen to your voices in the tremblin of the stars --------- |

Posted by June Labyzon on 10/22/14 at 12:14 PM This definitely has a musical ring to it. It doesn't have to be put to someone else's music, because it has music of it's own. I have memories of meeting by the river....love this. |
