Concerning First Amendment Right And Left

by Philip F De Pinto

Freedom of speech
Freedom of speech everywhere
And not a droplet of a thing to say
I can't in any way blame the cat
For absconding with my palaver
Cocoa by any other name
Would not land as sweetly on her feet
Who retreated from this earth
Before her kittens were born
One sunny morn
Consumed by another calling
Who was not so much falling
As slurped all the way down a fire escape
By the thirsty air
Warm sprinklings of fur and all
Lunging at a sparrow

It seems we don't know what we really need until it is gone. With 300+ million tongues wagging and so little said except for those one this page.

Except for the quality of writing, the subject matter of your poetry is always as unpredictable as a cat. Love the combination of human and feline traits. Great intro also with those first three lines. Happy New Year Phil, and continued success with your writing in 2014!

Way to go--the ultimate spiral ends at the top, unlike our scripted splash of demise, as faithfully articulated here...
