birthland

by Vivienne Grant

i can proclaim & disclaim

all i like

but the real claim is the land’s

there’s a magnetic drawing – pulling –

to the soil and rocks

scrubby thornbush
good tarred roads
all say hello – again

it’s an earthy welcome – deep

deeper than thought

a drawing in of the cord

that was stretched …

but not broken

I especially like the cord as that constant connection. I enjoyed this.
