What Would We No

by Philip F De Pinto

If I knew
what I know
now?
if you knew what I knew
then?
if I knew what you knew then?
if you knew what you know
now?

what would we no?

would we no what to do
if we new?

that the thing to do
was to say
I do
or don't
so do you
so what do you
no
of the old
of the knew?

what do
what do you
no
of the knew
of the old

that I don't?
that you due?

short of blow
who does a question
have to know?
what does a question
have to do around here
to get a reply?

brief
curt
not expansive

as to why
if I new what you knew
if you knew what I new
at the time
even now
what would we no?

so I do
so you do
so what do
we new?

no of the old?

the latter I repeat
is no clone of the former
which is not pleading
your case
exactly the same way
this time round
or the next

as to why
a question
has to go through
the plethora of contortions
to get a reply?

a measly
ungrandiose thing
a crumb
of that great
big facilitator pie

as to why
as to why
the former
and latter of which
are not clones
of the other

should ever be clones to begin with
or original parts?

still
it is warm
quite warm
no harm in that
it's all you got
to work with sometimes
when the chill is turned coat
and is elsewhere paddling
in someone else's moat

pinned itself like a tack
to hold steadfast some ad on a telephone pole
at some counter point in your life
when you wake up to a great big vacancy
in your heart
more hole and vagrancy
than a heart deserved
so big and so perfect
it would be the envy of every mole
who has ever dug a hole
short of digging a girl

a hole
from where the chill leaked out
to migrate up someone else's spine
and that is perfectly fine

so I do
so do you
agree with that?
or don't?

how about a reply

given I've iced your back
so many times I've lost count
won't you mine?
won't you mine?
ain't it time
for reply?

if I knew what I knew
then?
if you knew what I no
now?
if I knew what you new
now?
if you new what you knew
then?

what would we no?
so the question goes
won't you reply?
ain't it time?

don't you no
even now?

the question wears thin
as does the reply

besides

it's a cardinal sin
to leave a question out in the chill
to catch its death of it in this draft
of no reply no reply

Just when i think i no now i don't. It has always been like when out of now where she takes my hand and smiles. That is the only answer i have been able to rely upon and i do not no how she nos to do it. But this toooo will turn to loss for one of us someday soon.

My head spins and I enjoyed every turn and twist of words in this, after which I must ask if I must no.
