animus vox

by Cassandra Leigh

Sometimes I struggle for the right words,
even with the script
right in front of me
(just start
with what you know): yes,
this is a love poem,
because I am
in love with you.

every thing in the wide world
I want to see through your eyes, I like
what you like
because you like it, I would
eat all the cereal parts to give you
a bowl of marshmallows
in every color of the rainbow.

and half of me thinks you walk on water, the
other half knows you don’t
and loves you more.

in the morning, the grey light
on your skin, I
invented this feeling
falling
to the sound of the rain.

you are the fiber of my re-making,
this sea is vast and warm
