Need Not Be Told by Philip F De Pinto When we made love Which was often enough We articulated and gesticulated Like those Watching fireworks Yet for all the oohing and aahing And prudish neighbors banging on walls All that was born to us Was silence Which when more fully grown Need not be told Better to be seen than heard 08/16/2013 Posted on 08/17/2013 Copyright © 2026 Philip F De Pinto Member Comments on this Poem Posted by George Hoerner on 08/17/13 at 01:10 PM Very well done my friend. Posted by Rob Littler on 08/17/13 at 02:52 PM I find a certain comfort in this work, those few I have had a connection with deeper than "requiring an explanation for everything" came flooding into my mind. There are moments when a glance, a look, an image, an expression, a detail, whatever...can be so much more than words could ever tell...we nod, say hello, look at Edward Hopper...I ask if she wants some tea, from the cafe.... Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 08/17/13 at 07:16 PM I do like the maturity of your silence in this one, Philip. Posted by Gabriel Ricard on 08/19/13 at 05:28 AM Beautiful, touching.
