Park Ranger by Kristina Woodhillcall me
when
they
say
they'll
put
a watch tower
there
some sort
of cabin
built
on stilts
to hold me
firm to
moon
requirements
include
strong
tethers
buckled
to my
mind
containment
from
the overview
effect
oh, cow!
i'd be
your spoon!
a spotting
scope
i'd need
to keep
the beastie
counts
in sight
loping
lunar
landelopes
leaping
langeroos
i'd have
to take
aunt cora's
favorite
recipes
with cheese
she
knows
a thing
or two
for stretching
meals of
moon stone
soup
especially
i'd have
to have
my favorite
lounge chair
tilted back
arranged
for viewing
earth rise
from
the near side
of the moon

| Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 07/14/13 at 03:53 PM This really hits home, as one of my fondest memories from childhood was to be a park ranger. Being up so high in that cabin on stilts, and to be able to survey all around. Love the layout of words and images also in your poem; kinda like that tower on stilts. Thanks Kristina for refreshing my memory. |
