In Reaction To An Ode Which Would Label Us Unique by Philip F De Pinto
ode my dear,
let me make my reaction clear.
it would appear, indeed,
at least on the face,
that we, as you say, are all tinted differently
on the inside and even on the out.
dear ode, it would appear, indeed
that we are all
in possession of our own unique hue and view,
but not so unique
as to make us appear freak
show. not so different from the rest of the links
as to estrange us from
the ones or one link we need be kindred to.
my take, dear ode, is that we are not so dissimilarly hued as we think
but we like to make a ribald stink
as to our uniqueness.
the fact or the fiction of the matter is that
the meat and the spirit of each link is suited
and divides
perfectly and evenly one into the other.
were it not thus,
we could not make, wrest a plus from a minus,
at any rate,
would fail the world to populate,
this purported unique world
in all the cosmos.

and isn't it an awe - to have laughter within our serious nest and visa verse, and wisdom wrapping peeking through, and laughter at ourselves is the healthiest, is what my experience is too, Phil |
