Come To My Zoo by Thomas K. HuntCome to my zoo
Look inside my cage
I've made room for you
I've just re-arranged
Yeah come to my zoo
It's the place to be
There's an empty cage
Right next to me
Come to my zoo
It's where you should be
Its the place for you
It is the place for me
Some people live in the wild
Some live as it should be
Some people live on the outside
You belong inside with me
Yeah come to my zoo
Come and share my cage
We belong on the inside
Up on center stage
Yeah come to my zoo
You won't want to leave
It's just a happy little place
Where nothing's make believe
So won't you please come to my zoo?
You won't regret it
It's the place for you
You won't forget it
Some people stay planted
Some are bound to stray
Some people need security
They should come to my zoo for a day
Come to my zoo
There's a place for you
It's cozy and it's warm
Keeps you safe in a storm
Come to my zoo
The admission is free
You need to get in line
Get in right behind me
I'll meet you at my zoo
Please don't make me wait
Lets make it a quarter til two
If it's two then it's too late
Some people fade forever
Some are happy to stay
Some watch from the outside
I look outside all day
I'm here in my zoo
The one behind the gate
Waiting to walk you through
I hope you're not too late
Come on in, the cage is open
Make yourself at home
Can I get you something?
Would you like to use the phone?
Come to my zoo
You'll see that I'm for real
This is the place for you
You'll feel how to feel
You can't get lost
Just read the signs
Follow the directions
I'm not that hard to find
Come live in my zoo
I'm ready for you
Welcome to my cage
Over there's the stage
That's where they shine the light
You're the light of my night
It's gonna shine forever bright
It's gonna shine just right
If you come to my zoo
Please come as you
I'm so counting on you
You know what to do
It's the place for you
It's a place for two
It's what you should do
Come to my zoo

Posted by Sam Roberts on 03/13/13 at 04:46 PM I love this, in fact the repetitious pattern can sometimes be mundane in poems, but not in this one, its clever! And makes you want to read on and on. Its pacey! Which I like :) Well done |
