Erstwhile by Philip F De Pinto
above
a dirge
of piquant clouds merge
with a road sign
which read get leg
up on the discovery of
a lifetime of a kind
lowing and bovine
erstwhile
there was another sign
rife with fructose on the vine
serving as dutiful scout knife
pirouetting on one leg
to skew the rind
of air round a rite
of passage - the ribbons of a mind
unfit to be tied into forget me knots
erstwhile
there was a strain
on the archway made of rain
unction to retain
through which the outlaw of average
and other miscarriage
of souls file past
and or are strained through the colander of the flesh
inured to mesh
with gears in the slovenly air
formerly
we would be made quickly to pass
this cathedral made of veritable glass
that we alas
could muster a cut above
and below our love
straddling o'er an archway
dew tamping in vain
the discovery of a lifetime
formerly
there was a scout knife
dutiful to remain
whirling dervish on one leg
to drill through the rind
of air round a rite
of miscarriage - the ribbons
of a mind
unfit to be tied into forget me knots

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 02/18/13 at 11:41 PM Philip - I enjoyed the "piquant clouds", especially the "dutiful scout knife" and its antics, loved the "souls strained through the colander of the flesh",
and the whole "the ribbons
of a mind
unfit to be tied into forget me knots". |
