Thanks Mom and Dad by Courtney B ChilesI just wanted to thank you for making my life so much fun,
You have always been there for me like I was number one.
I know that I have hurt you through the years,
I must have made you cry so many tears.
I know I have hurt you in the past,
I can’t believe your love for me still lasts.
I know that God still loves me, and he proves it through the two of you,
I could never ask for a set of parents who could be more true.
I thought at first you would give up on me,
I thought it was because I caused you so much pain and misery.
I never meant to hurt you; I never meant to make you cry,
I am sorry for all the times that I said I wanted you to die.
What is even worse is that I lived my life in vain,
All that I did was cause a lot of hurt and drove you insane.
Every time I made you cry I felt your misery too,
I never meant to be so untrue.
Every time that I pushed you away you would never let go,
After all the things I did that hurt you, I can’t understand how you can love me so.

| Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 02/05/13 at 06:42 PM This is the poem I should have written to 'my' mom and dad, although we did work things out in conversational English and made amends along the way. Thanks for putting it so eloquently into words. |
