hence by Philip F De Pinto
alas - hunger is too soon
upon us like a debt we cannot pay
and the world is too fraught with cookbooks
and not enough food to cook
hence - hunger will sign out what it needs from the library
toss it in the pot
and cook the cook books and dine to its heart's contention
and grow fat with the moon
which is a swell idea to implement
save there will be hell to pay for the late charges
on books which consumed can never be returned - save through regurgitation

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 01/23/13 at 02:29 PM Well, that would be such a mess. :) When I see the piles of books people take home from the library it is a wonder to think of all the words and ideas chewed and swallowed and digested and then, perhaps shared. |

[I find this especially appealing. We collect/preserve books-especially old, rare books ...the message in this poem is quite pregnant- a gem that ruminates just as much as it resonates.EXCELLENT, imho |
