Chicken Soup and Casseroles by Kristina Woodhill
Here's to those who can still
swallow their drool
to those who can still sphinct
their daily prayed stool
here's to the hands
that still grip what they wish
to flinging that dried up
old casseroled fish
to elbow sharp noodles
al dente with soup
a tribute to teeth
that still bite through that goop
here's to voices
that still yell
middle fingers
that still stick
a probe
in the rectal
behind of
life's schtick

Posted by A. Paige White on 11/11/12 at 05:52 PM After I read this, and love it by the way, I went to the forum to see if you'd put it there as well. The title truly speaks what you posted in the forum for JJ. I too, had read his journal entry a few weeks ago and pm'd him with suggestions about resources but never got a response so I'm now not sure he even received it since our messenger doesn't always act right. This particular poem finds me in a strange frame of mind having found out yesterday my mom's in a diabetic coma several states away. I am thankful, as your poem suggests, to fight another day. Great soup, Kristina. |
Posted by JJ Johnson on 11/12/12 at 06:15 AM I do try to get around and read poetry here from time to time, but my eyes get tired from the strain to see. I can relate to everything in this poem, but I won't say on which side of the line I fall on any particular situation in it. I did send another PM to you, so if you don't get it, leave me a message in the forum and then I will know. I do recall that messages were not going through a while back, but I thought it had been fixed. In any case, good poem with lots to pucker my sphincter... JJ |
