eye padding

by Laura Doom

with a gesture
i can bridge

the digital divide

make you up
close and personal
idealize your imperfections

or take you
from distance
with a light-
fingered pinch

when you are short-
handed
i can b there 4 u

i, the author
of your downfall
can read you
like a book

i can
can be
the ultimate receptacle
for your acquisitive I

until temptation bites
the hand that feeds
my inquisitive eye

i will swipe you
from the face
of the earth
while your head
is in the cloud

the kill or cure
non sequitur—
your future
is written in stone

still your heart
aspires to be
the app of my i

---------------
Scent from my ichor

"Draw blood." Wow.

This is quite agressive, even made me feel uncomfortable. But that's what a poem should do, evoke all the senses. Nice work Laura, and good to read you again.

Truly a poem of the modern techno age. And me without a smart phone. Only by observing my adult kids manipulate their pads and phones do I get this very clever work. I especially loved that 2nd to last stanza, but the "your heart that aspires to be the app of my i" - brilliant! This could be a marketing tool ad for some innovative advertising agency. (seriously)

This is clever and wonderful. But do I detect something else in the eye that might need be wiped away.

I don't know about ipads, but my kindle keyboard is covering up this comment box and no amount of swiping or pinching is going to allow me to know what I'm really saying here--I've been rendered eyeless. Which, right now, seems sort of I-less. And appropriate.
