Mountains and Valleys

by George Hoerner

there is the top
how far can
one see with
open eyes

miles upon miles
to the moon
and more
to the stars

down one mile
to the valley
and one more
the ocean waters

i looked toward
eternity once
but the cost
was too high

This poem nicely covers a lot of miles in only 16 lines. ;o)

A map of life in text, with context to be read between the lines...don't look down George :>)

Quite the vantage point, George, that last stanza leaving me hanging nicely.
