mother by Blair Meeksi feel you sometimes
when the sunlight is thick
and the song is just right.
i see you everywhere
but i don't stop -
your memory enfolds me,
it is so heavy
with love.
i remember you
crying at night,
curled up,
hoping morning would
not come,
you always left,
only this time
you never returned
and i still wait,
recognizing you
in the mirror as i pass.
i may never know
whether you have left
this world
but i feel you
tonight
and i hope that somewhere
you feel me. 08/20/2012 Posted on 10/19/2012 Copyright © 2026 Blair Meeks

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 10/19/12 at 05:15 AM I'm glad I came across this...great timing. I can so relate. Yesterday was the third anniversary of my own mother's passing. Great poem also. Thanks for putting my own feelings so aptly into words.

Posted by Alison McKenzie on 10/20/12 at 10:55 PM You've described the most difficult ending - one that doesn't have a conclusion, and having to go forward every day anyhow. Evoked such strong emotions in me, the way good poems really do. Welcome to Pathetic!
Posted by Bertram Sparagmos on 10/21/12 at 06:38 PM Our human right to longing expressed in a bittersweet tribute. Feelings like this can easily become anger, but this expresses a more... well... poetic route.
