Impossible

by Christel Crews

My heart is fickle
While my feet balance
On the tight rope
Moving two steps forwards
Then three steps back

How do I juggle between
What my heart wants
What my mind finds logical
And what my emotions can handle

Living in limbo is not living
Appetite forgotten, Sleep unknown
Mind buzzing, Emotions escalating

How do I decide between
yesterday, today and tomorrow
Or
pleasing you, myself, or those around me

Impossible
But I was told
'impossible things happen every day'

I need to decide, then
Take a step in faith
But towards which direction will that step be
Only God knows..
I wish He'd point me in the right way

A worthy piece of introspection and soul searching, Christel. That last stanza could easily act as an epataph for my own life. I've found through my own experiences, that if one is patient, and opens his/her mind to the possibilities of any given situation, eventually the right direction will ring true in the heart, but yes, it does require a leap of faith. Well done!

My dear, in life there are hard lessons, difficulties, regrets and worse - but there is no wrong way. Which ever way you choose, is the way you were meant to go. Without that, there is no freewill, and that is God's greatest gift to us.

a lovely poem which poses difficult questions, to be sure, nevertheless, I am certain that in time they will all be answered to our satisfaction, one way or the other, by someone exceedingly greater than you and I.
