Sounds Of Silence

by Joan Serratelli

Why can’t I

shake this feeling?

Impending doom

I can’t explain it well

Everybody

feels that way

at one time

or another

But I feel

like a broken transmission

I cannot switch gears

I’m stuck

and I can’t

go anywhere

So I just

sit here

unable

to move

I sit here

it’s quiet

If you listen

real hard

You can hear it

It’s the sound

of the rest of my life

calling me

The term "peace and quiet" can be rubbish, and the quiet some anti-peace. Good one. Thanks

Nicely done.

Very well put. A highly spiritual piece that I'm sure we all can relate to in our own way. I sure can.

Simple, elegant and searing..one of your best Joan! "But I feel/like a broken transmission/ I cannot switch gears/ I’m stuck and I can’t go anywhere" i was there. It is exactaly as you wrote.

I can definitely feel the emotions coming out of this piece, and I can readily identify. I like it.
