divorce and the big bay boom by Maria Francescait was a boom
like no boom
that ever came before it -
bigger than the thunder
that my mom told us
was the noise from God's bowling night;
bigger than a car crash.
and so beautiful
it was -
lights shooting out
like a thousand stars being born at once
and I knew right away
that this fireworks display
had not gone off as planned.
after awhile
everyone realized
there would be no further show -
nothing left to see -
so they turned away
and left,
awash in disappointment
and my mind drifted
back some years
to the end of you and me
and I thought
this end was much better
no slow, agonizing decline here -
just a beautiful, painless bang.
yeah,
this was much better.

Posted by George Hoerner on 07/08/12 at 08:58 PM Yes, I saw pictures on the news. And here I thought they set them off just for you, a birthday, or some such celebration!! |

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 07/13/12 at 12:05 PM I like this very much in how it brings closure to a relationship, but in a positive way. Sorry for my ignorance, Maria, but what's a non-fireworks display? |
