Balance

by Carolyn Coville

I want to throw away the rules.

How can I play hard to get when my body craves yours?
I want to be sexy yet virginal.
I've never been patient, but my haste has wasted love
and caused more tears than I've cared to create.

I want to stalk as well as pounce.
I want to keep you guessing but let you know
who I am, where I've been, where I'm going and
do you think you can handle it?

My mind dreams of possibilities and also predicts disaster.
Could he be just another number or happily ever after?

Excellent piece of work Carolyn. The great thing about love, as your poem so aptly points out, is we can and have to be all those things, when in love. It brings out our strengths and weakenesses, the best and worst in us. And whether it goes on or dies, we always gain new found wisdom. Thanks for the well worded reminder. Chris. :)

I just love that second line. It all fits in with the the games people play. Playing hard to get is a chess move which oft proves disastrous to the Queen.
