Chasing

by Gregory R Schelske

At world's end
where love evades
I chased her shadow
through sun and dust

My citrus sunset;
this queen of spades
a silent sparrow
of love and lust

Her restless heart
so quickly fades
our souls bleed songs
of sand and rust

she has no voice;
her spirit wades
lost in shallow
pools of dust

Dolorous and desolate flavor and imagery - very affective.

Wonderful poem but the second stanza is perfection to me.

this ode which flows so readily is rhythm perfect and the subject matter is right up my alley.
