Sigmund Says

by Joan Serratelli

Where do I go
from'here?

The children have gone
I find myself alone

too much time
on my hands
can be a curse

I wake up too early
I have nothing to do
what would Sigmund say?

I am alone
no-one to talk to
"Fine Life"

"What?"

"Fine Life
you've made
for youself"

Sigmund would say
...and he would be right

You've gotten yourself in
now let's see you climb
you're way out
of this void
you seem to call your life

Author's Note: It's missing something...and I cannot pinpoit the problem. Don't like the ending. Any input?

Worthy reminder (with the help of Sigmund) that we are all masters of our own reality. As for missing something, my suggestion is put it away for a while...give it time. The next time you pull it out, you'll be surprised at how your perception of the inspiration and resulting expression (words) has changed. Always works for me. :o)

Dear old Sig is no longer around and many suggest he was only right about a few things, important as they were. If I had no one to bother I'd be reading a heck of a lot of poetry and even at times trying to write it.

I'm not sure. I honestly really liked the whole thing.

That last stanza seems to be a call to action which, to me, is a good thing.
