Sap Zap by Kristina Woodhill
Static electricity
so hair up-standing dry,
the lids don't want
to sweep
along the sandy
desert of my eyes
mercy me!
that's some warning
finger tips that zap!
the cat avoids my
petting digits
skips my afghan
warmed-up lap
car doors spit
their message
make me flinch
sing
high pitched tones
i'd wire my
gnarly knuckles
just to see
some lit up
limber bones
it could be light
it could be life
it could be what
the planet needs
this could be some
revival meeting,
souls lit up
in bright 3D
winter claims
this time of rest,
its three free
months from
growing strife
but underneath
its dry idea
spring sap
tends
earth's pilot light
some over-eager
green-man hand
attends
the switch
(an OCD)
making sure
the spark is there
ready, set
on One, Two, Three!
let's all clasp hands together
let's circle this old home, our land
i feel the current probing
and i'd like to breech this holding dam
