winter whispers

by Maria Massarella

snow-laden branches
silhouette the nightscape -
misty moon retreats
beyond the visible

a sense of impotence
aches my heart watching
you lapidated by another
multitude of flakes

frozen to stillness you
neither sway nor bend -
surrender to the elements
with dignity and grace

reverence tweaks my silence
to wordflow – to tell that
on observing your winterness
I found a whispering spring

*

in the light of your sagacity
the utmost sense of impotence
sheds its veils – opens
to realms of possibilities

Author's Note: * to the tree outside my window

the snow is currently in its melting process...
from notes of when my world was a fortress
immersed in walls of white

Ah yes m'lady, when winter whispers it is very often saying spring is coming...

Here in Canada, one can sooo relate. Eloquently rendered Maria. Graze.

it's been a snowless winter here in NYC, Maria...but I am looking at the cherry tree outside my window and remembering winter days as you describe. Magnifico!

I love a winter landscape and you give it your own special elegance that paints an endearing window pane.
