sounds like thunder
rolling across
three thousand miles
with no reduction
of intensity or direction
it drives straight
through my heart

i understand you
want nothing
at this time
in your life
that might give
a different perspective
on reality
or lack there of

but most of my life
has been one
of breaking rules
of saying that
the grass is blue
the sky is green
god is good and
god is evil and
at the same time

i know you
started that way
but you’ve settled in
to the niceties
that society offers

the purse snatching
must have been
far more upsetting
to your view of reality
than it was to the
physical side

i’m sorry!!
some people
should not have
their idea of
the good life disturbed
i have as good a life
as i can expect
better than i deserve
i ask for nothing more
than the most difficult

someone else who
really wants
to understand
that which
at least for now
cannot be
understood

if i’ve woken you

go back to sleep
