Just...Wasn't

by Clara Mae Gregory

Just wasn't yesterday
that I began to fade away,
melting into the
pale gray walls,
overcome by rules and laws.

There is no escape
from a loneliness
that becomes my drape.

I am shrouded in sorrow
casting dread on tomorrow.
I want to kiss them all goodbye
and go to the place where
my pain can't cry.

But Hell is here...
and so am I.

I found this a while back and placed it in my bookmarks when I was offline. I'm glad I was logged in today to put in in my favorites, because I relate with this. And send you a friend's solid hug. Heart-wrenching poem and so real, so real.

Sounds just like where I live too, both geographically and in the mind. Excellent empathy piece!

This is such a compelling read. "overcome by rules and laws." - my favorite line.
