A Sail Not Yet, Yet, Sailed Set! by Lori BlairWe forget the blame was before we knew
I was as if I knew the end was in sight
and I followed those that knew
though I knew it was too late to sail
that sailing ship that was sinking
and
that sailing sail had set
without much regret, so I was told
but how we romanced and danced, instead
as yet
this sail had not yet
set
and though our harbor was
what most might regret
as rulers
most would forget
that sail that sailed
as sails so went
just so soon to forget
and just as our sailors sin
from vessels, now, from within
without regrets
but,
we danced as if the night
was a day we must expell
just as we exhaled
the night from the day
and then again, the day from the night
but oh,
the roamers run wild as seed
and so he wined
and danced
heaven scent
what was once, then, now, shared
from us, most
He said there wasn't room
to believe in ghosts or phantoms
though this legend is so hard to believe
I for once, sighed, a tale
that's shared for lent
though most can't see
some might say I'm decieved
but by what, I do believe?
but I know I am not so dull
while so full of life
and as I wander through the foothills
my eyes were just as believing
as all those dreams
I most believed in
and then he smiled upon me
as if he knew, I knew the rest
so soon to forget the best
cuz one maiden virgin
could never be as the rest
that his soul could cost more than
all the rest
and turn her heart
as cold as ice
cuz we wined as though we wanted
our online mail could never be the same
and though no soul could tell us so
our souls shared the same
and his turned wine
into kisses, soon faded
into roses, we held inside
but,
we danced as if the night
was a day we must expell
just as we exhaled
the night from the day
and then again, the day from the night
but oh,
the roamers run wild as seed
and so he wined
and danced
heaven sent
what was once, then, now, shared
from us both
without regrets
cuz i love him so
oh heaven knows....
and though that ship had sunk so long before
I tried, and, so how I tried
to sail a sail that won't forget
without what most would regret
cuz flowers bloom
as love unveils!
as roomers
hail it so!
Oh, Reverend
turn the wine
into hail itself!
and let our souls sail themselves! 12/12/2011 Posted on 12/13/2011 Copyright © 2025 Lori Blair

Posted by Adam Dyson on 12/13/11 at 07:51 AM Had to come back to this one but well worth the wait for the receptive state. Read aloud and smiled at the staggered beat and rhyme. Really nice! And "he turned wine into kisses" is just beautiful. |
Posted by George Hoerner on 12/13/11 at 01:56 PM The only thing better than turning water into wine is 'turning wine into kisses'. A beautiful wirte m'lady. I fear I let me sail loose to flap in the wind sailing me in circles chasing my tail. And again nice write. |

Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 12/16/11 at 12:45 PM if Mozart was ever in the market for lyrics to accompany such soulful music as he composed, surely he could find a plentiful supply within this most musical and soulfullfilling ode, such to grace his soul and mine. |
Posted by Jody Pratt on 12/16/11 at 05:14 PM I love the rhyme in this. It's very playful and fun to read. The ending is perfect. |
Posted by JJ Johnson on 12/18/11 at 01:38 AM a work of art reflecting the scenery of your heart. I can relate. |
Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 12/18/11 at 02:40 PM I like the use of ship/sailing metaphor. Much hopefullness here, though if I'm not mistaken, a sense of loss also. |
