Don't you know, I love you too

by Lori Blair

My, Love,

Have you been alright?

though, they tell me you are just fine

but I don't think it's so

cuz I know

I just know how you are

so why don't you just tell me it's not so

cuz we had a love beyond those times

there is nothing else that could suffice

What's that?

why don't you call me and say

you feel the same

cuz I know

because I don't believe it isn't so

I just know

I just know your heart

and baby, you're blue, without me too

the sun has faded it's surprise

and all the heat it once shared

is only a disguise

behind distant eyes

Who knew?

I often wondered why

you left me alone

and why I know

because you don't believe in dreams

but I just believe

I just believe you know it too

cuz the truth is worth the risk

the distance we see is hidden

cuz we had a love beyond those times

there is nothing else that could suffice

so hold me as if the springtime

will never come

and let it spring forth

for all it's worth

within those new distant eyes

Oh, okay

oh please tell me why

oh, oh, tell me the truth

cuz I can't lose the past

I am remaining in times spent

together, alone, in my life

without you

Hold on, please hold on

oh, just please, just hold on

cuz you know it's true

cuz we had a love beyond those times

there is nothing else that could suffice

Oh, My love

it isn't alright

cuz you are not here to hold me tight

and I wonder, what have I done wrong?

cuz I still can't adjust

that you are not here

and the new year won't be the same

without my baby

holding me through the night

So what enemy is listening

don't you honestly think it's unending

don't you think the truth will set us free

till the sun says it's goodbye

and my baby says it's just goodnight

oh yeah, it's forever, and not just goodnight

but now

the sun has faded it's surprise

and all the heat it once held

is only a disguise

behind your distant eyes

Who knew?

Who knew why?

It's a little thing called, disguised

Who knew?

I often wondered why

you left me all alone

and why I know

because you don't believe in dreams

but I just believe

I just believe you know it too

cuz the truth is worth the risk

and it's worth the risk

cuz you know

cuz you know

baby, I love you, too

This poem reads like a song with many conflicting and contrasting emotions. There is deep love and hope mixed with a sense of longing and insecurity. I am reminded of a lifetime of New Year's Eves with no one to hold, to kiss when the clock struke twelve. It's a bit overwhelming as the slices of time slice through the past into the future. You've written a powerful and expressive verse that brings shivers to my spine in lines I feel running through me as though written by my own hand. Excellent work! jj

I did not yet love, and I loved to love.... I looked for what I loved, loving to love.

I had one once and lost it. I have one now but don't know it.

I like how this expresses and feels very much like a Beatles song. Almost painful to read, in how we feel your pain...loneliness.

This is lonely and beautiful; very musical. *HUGS*

love is worth the risk..and in this lyrical ode ( i could hear mysef singing the words) I could hear the choirs signing with me in agreement.

if Goldylocks's appetite ever returned, If she were ever to break fast and taste your words, she would utter, not the usual, they are just right, but they are simply magnifique! magnifique! they cast spells, is the way I and Goldy would describe them. they simply enthrall, enough to make a Bear forget about lamenting his porridge.
