my Penny colored love

by Colleen Sperry

love
jumped orange waves at sunrise
skipped pink chalk on sidewalks
laughed at all things blue

love
hid in the white snowbanks
of the barren orchard
kicked a ball over black concrete
stomped in every clear puddle
until wet soles squeaked

love
lost in the grey of morning
buried in the bright sunlight
abides under silent green eternally

I like the imagery you create through the use of colors. The flow is easy throughout aside from the very last "eternally." Which is okay because read aloud it seems to close the poem. My favorite line is "laughed at all things blue." :)

Refreshing. I thought that this was an exceptional poem to read. Thank you for posting...

Wonderful "action/imagery" poem Colleen. Nice how the green of the corroded penny ties in to the title, but also has a nature feel to it.

I love this ode, given I was witness to all that you've penned here so delicately and with irony attached. Yes, long ago, I saw it all arrive and go.

"Love' is one of those things in life that always establishes its own format and we have so little control over it. We must either accept it or not at our own peril. Hopefully we make the right choice.
