Cloud by Glenn CurrierOh how I long for a cloud
in the clear hot Texas sky.
Lighter than a sigh
a balloon flies,
Its small mass shimmies
becoming a sapphire dwarf
high and free in the breeze.
I imagine the balloon bursting
to exhale a fluffy continent
full of moist relief
for the lawn’s brown thirst.
Now other dark continents
thwack into the first
in a clash of thunder.
My mind wanders and wonders
about life on my small planet.
Will I again join the living
while waiting for the drip drip dripping
of the ether cloud ripe with the contents my mind
typed, revised, and entered through the years?
I poured me into the now repaired computer
that three weeks ago crashed
and burned a hole in my summer.
But, to its credit, it rained a flood of chances
to cool my slow burn
and turn the gathering storm
into a soft and wispy
cloud. 07/09/2011 Author's Note: I am very grateful that I acquired the .com service to backup my hard drive. However, little did I know that it would take their cloud 6 to 7 days to restore the 62 GB to the NEW hard drive now that I have gotten the computer back from repair. I should have listened to my cousin who urged me to get the external hard drive and back it up regularly. Live and learn.
