flights of fancy by Charlie Morgani showered. it was late. about 2:00 p.m.;
washed-off all of yesterday's sadness.
like everyday, i swim or bathe, then lecture
my living room furniture or the pool.
it's better that way, they listen;
people are different, they don't.
even my t.v. asks me to repeat what i said,
leafing thru some back pages to note it.
my couch accepts my dog as a layabout, and
even with the weight, takes notes furiously
for couchs know what the test will cover.
my dog is not worried about the finals;
the couch will let him copy her paper. 06/27/2011 Posted on 06/27/2011 Copyright © 2026 Charlie Morgan

Posted by George Hoerner on 06/27/11 at 07:51 PM Oh Charlie I love it. I commun with things all the time, especially my dog. He always listens except when I say 'NO'. I swear he understands it all much more than I ever will.
Posted by Clara Mae Gregory on 06/28/11 at 11:10 AM Ah retirement....I love this too, Charlie.I bet your dog is smarter than most and most people too, for that matter!
Posted by Glenn Currier on 06/28/11 at 12:50 PM Ah! Charlie! With a chuckle and a tiny tear in my eye I return to your library for a taste of your delicious gift. We can now only imagine the grateful responses of our "listeners." But sometimes over the years I had to use my imagination to conjure the listening of the bodies present as they sat there unimpressed with my brilliance. Love this, Chaz.
Posted by Alison McKenzie on 06/28/11 at 01:34 PM Oh to be a fly on your dog....errrr, your couch. Wait. Maybe I just want to BE the couch? Yes, I would gladly lend my support every time you lectured!!
